Juventus vs Real Madrid - Champions League Final Preview and Odds

June 03, 2017 19:45pm - National Stadium, Cardiff

Champions League Final

Cardiff will provide the stunning setting for this year`s Champions League final showdown as holders Real Madrid go in search of a 12th crown against two-time former champions Juventus.

Spain and Italy`s domestic winners go head-to-head for Euro supremacy

Having seen off the challenge of Bayern Munich and rivals Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid will look to extend their record-breaking haul of 11 European Cups when they face the Serie A champions in Cardiff on Saturday. Zinedine Zidane’s men arrive in Wales having secured their first league title in five years thanks to a run of six-straight wins at the end of their campaign.

Los Blancos netted 106 times in La Liga this term and have found the net in every Champions League match, so it is hard to imagine them not marking the score sheet on Saturday. If they do, they will become the first team to score 500 in the Champions League since its inception.

Meanwhile, Juventus were also successful at domestic level, wrapping up their six-straight Serie A title and following it up with an Italian Cup win. Allegri`s men have conceded just three goals in this competition and will be tough to break down, despite their rival`s intimidating strike force. What`s more, the Italians also have a significant strike force of their own and will be keen to take advantage of the Spanish side`s sometimes leaky defence.

Veteran keeper Gianluigi Buffon will look to bag his first ever Champions League title and become the oldest ever winner in the process.

Betting odds and tips

Real Madrid have won each of the last five Champions League finals that they have competed in and are the tournament record holders with 11 wins overall. Their last defeat in a European Cup final came against Liverpool 36 years ago. If they prevail, they will become the first team to defend the title in the competition`s current format.

Juventus have a bit of a bridesmaid`s reputation in this competition having made it to eight finals but with only two victories to their name. In fact, they have lost the last four Champions League finals they have contested since 1997. As a result, Real Madrid must be classed as favourites for this competition.

Historically, the favourites come out well in this event with six of last seven finals ending in disappointment for the underdogs. With that in mind and taking into consideration the Spanish team`s pedigree in this competition, the price of 17/20 for a Real Madrid win looks tempting. However, it might be worth combining this with a BTTS bet to boost the odds further as the last six finals have ended with both side on the score sheet.
