Liverpool vs Everton - Premier League Preview and Odds

December 02, 2018 16:15pm - Anfield Stadium

Premier League

Liverpool will look the maintain an unbeaten home run against Everton that stretches back to the last millennium when the two meet at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds record against their city rivals makes devastating reading. Their last defeat at Anfield came in 1999 and their last defeat at Goodison came eight years ago. Overall, they have lost just two league matches against Everton in the last 20 years.

However, they failed to beat their rivals twice last season with both league matches ending in draws. A win against them in the FA Cup gave little compensation as Klopp`s men were dumped out in the next round by West Bromwich Albion.

The Anfield side are unbeaten at home in 27 Premier League matches and unbeaten in the league this season, home or away. However, their confidence may have been knocked a little by their midweek Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain which leaves them needing to beat Napoli by two clear goals in their final game to progress to the knockout stages.

A win would keep Klopp`s men within touching distance of Manchester City in the title race.

Meanwhile, Everton have risen to sixth in the table after winning five of their last seven Premier League matches. Boss Marco Silva seems to be getting the best out of the team and they could be excused for feeling upbeat ahead of this game.

Unfortunately, history is not on Everton`s side and the desperation to win at Anfield often has a negative effect on the fans and the team. Marco Silva will have his work cut out getting his players in the right frame of mind for this game.

With just two poit separating sixth and 10th, a win would give Everton a little breathing space in the mid-table battle.

Betting odds and tips

Liverpool`s home form combined with Everton`s failure to win here in nearly 20 years makes the home win look decent value, despite the Toffee’s recent upturn in form.

Mo Salah has seven goals to his name this season and looks good value to score first at 13/5.

You can back the Home win at 4/9 and Salah/First Goal Scorer at 13/5.
