Premier League preview and odds: Arsenal vs Sunderland

Arsenal are winless in three Barclays Premier League games and must now face a Sunderland side on a two-game winning streak at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Gunners looking over their shoulders

A few weeks ago, Arsenal were top of the Premier league table, but a run of three games without a win has left them in fourth place looking over their shoulders at arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The Gunners followed up their recent draw in the North London derby with a defeat at West Brom and a draw at Norwich. They now have a chance to get their title challenge back on track when struggling Sunderland pay a visit to the Emirates this weekend.

The North London side has not lost a game at home since the opening day of the season when they were upset by West Ham United.

Sunderland making steady progress

Sunderland have won their last two games in a row without conceding a goal and have finally clawed their way out of the bottom-three. New boss Sam Allardyce has made slow but steady progress since he was called in to replace Dick Advocaat back in October. A morale-boosting win against Newcastle was followed by a pair of defeats but the Black Cats bounced back with wins over Crystal Palace and Stoke to keep their survival quest on track.

Team news

Arsenal are top of the injury table with a total of ten players either injured or doubtful. Key absentees include Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla, however, Kieran Gibbs and Laurent Koscielny could both return.

Meanwhile, Big Sam will be without Jack Rodwell, Jermaine Defoe and Seb Larsson.
