Leicester City vs Sunderland . Premier League preview and odds

April 04, 2017 19:45pm - King Power Stadium

Premier League

A resurgent Leicester City will look to slap Sunderland into submission when the two teams go head-to-head at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.

Leicester City proving there is life after Ranieri

Leicester City`s remarkable turnaround in form since the departure of title-winning coach Claudio Ranieri suggests that some players may have indeed downed tools towards the end of the Italian’s reign. Whatever the reason for their slump, things are now looking up for Leicester fans who have seen their team win every match they have played since binning their old boss.

The Foxes have won their last four Premier League matches in a row and their last three on home soil. Two thirds of all their matches this term have featured more than 2.5 goals and 82% of their points have been earned at home.

Meanwhile, opponents Sunderland look all but doomed as they remain rooted to the foot of the table, eight points adrift of safety. Furthermore, they come into this game on the back of a difficult week in which manager David Moyes was reprimanded for his disparaging remarks towards broadcaster Vicki Sparks.

The Black Cats are in dreadful form, having picked up just one point from their last five matches. In the meantime, many of their relegation rivals have been in decent form and have pulled clear of Moyes` men. Only Middlesbrough have been in worst form over the last eight matches.

Team news

The home side will continue without Molla Wague (dislocated shoulder), while Marc Albrighton (illness), Wes Morgan (back) and Nampalys Mendy (knee) are both doubtful.

Meanwhile, Steven Pienaar (calf strain), Jan Kirchhoff (cartilage), Duncan Watmore (ACL) and Paddy McNair (knee) are all unavailable for the visitors, while Victor Anichebe (knee) remains a doubt.

Betting odds and tips

Leicester City have got their swagger back but they are still only six points clear of the drop zone. Craig Shakespeare will be keen to avoid complacency while taking advantage of a poor Sunderland side.
