West Ham United vs. Liverpool - Premier League Preview and Odds

November 04, 2017 17:30pm - London Stadium

Premier League

West Ham United remain stranded in the lower reaches of the table after a stuttering start to the season. As a result, there is still speculation surrounding the future of boss Slaven Bilic. Next up for the London club is a home clash against sixth-ranked Liverpool.

The Hammers through away a two-goal lead in last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace to leave their fans feeling somewhat deflated. After coming from behind themselves in the League Cup game at Tottenham Hotspur just a few days before, they perhaps felt their fortunes were changing. But with 10 games played, they find themselves in 16th place in the table with just two wins to their name.

The Stratford-based club were hoping to challenge for European places after moving to the London Stadium but things haven’t quite panned out that way. Their home form proved to be their Achilles heel last term and so far this season, they have been erratic at home and struggled on the road. The Irons have been beaten twice in their own back yard this term and conceded three goals on both occasions.

Meanwhile, Liverpool can make it three wins on the trot with a win in the capital. Jurgen Klopp’s men beat Maribor 3-0 in their midweek Champions League clash and beat Huddersfield by the same scoreline last week. Prior to that, on their last visit to London, they were beaten 4-1 by Spurs.

The Reds have scored 14 in their last four, keeping three clean sheets in the process and the possible return of Sadio Mane could give them a further boost heading into this game. With 10 games already played, they are already playing catch-up on the top four and 12 point adrift of league leaders Manchester City.

Betting odds and tips

An incredible 19 of West Ham’s last 22 Premier League defeats have produced at least three goals. And with Liverpool in scoring mood again, a similar outcome should be expected this weekend. This is backed up by the fact that five of the Red’s last six road trips have produced four goals or more.
