Stoke City vs Liverpool - Premier League preview and odds

April 08, 2017 15:00pm - Bet365 Stadium

Premier League

Stoke City will look to break a three-game losing streak when they host top four wannabees Liverpool at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Season fizzling out for Potters, while Reds still have all to play for

Stoke City`s three-season-long stronghold on ninth place seems to be slipping after a run of three straight defeats has left them languishing in 12th place in the table. The Potters are still a point away from their favourite spot but the three teams above them are all enjoying decent runs of form.

Last time out, Mark Hughes` men fell 1-0 away to 14th-ranked Burnley and prior to that, they were beaten 2-0 on the road at Leicester City. On home soil, however, only league leaders Chelsea have beaten them at the Bet365 Stadium since November.

Meanwhile, opponents Liverpool are facing a battle to retain their top four status heading into the final seven games of the season. The Reds are currently sat in third place, two points ahead of Manchester City, who have a game in hand, and six points ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United, who each have two games in hand.

Jurgen Klopp`s men once again stumbled against one of the lower-ranked teams when drawing 2-2 with AFC Bournemouth at Anfield last time out. Away from home, the Merseyside team have not won a game in 2017, their last victory on the road coming at Everton back in December (0-1).

Team news

Jack Butland (ankle) and Stephen Ireland (ACL) will all be missing for the home side, while Marc Muniesa (knee), Mame Diouf (knee) and Jonathan Walters (concussion) are all doubtful.

Meanwhile, the visitors will have to make do without Sadio Mane (knee), Adam Lallana (thigh), Jordan Henderson (foot), Oviemuno Ejaria (ankle) and Danny Ings (meniscus), while Philippe Countinho is a slight doubt through illness.

Liverpool: DWDWW

Betting odds and tips

Stoke City have scored at least one goal in each of their last seven home matches and have only lost one of their last nine matches at the Bet365 Stadium. The Reds have netted in each of their last seven games but have yet to win on the road in 2017. With that in mind, the Both Teams to Score bet looks like the best option in this game, with the Stoke/Draw Double Chance also providing a tempting option with prices of around 9/10 available.

You can back Both Teams to Score at 3/4 with Bet365.
