Chelsea vs Middlesbrough- Premier League preview and odds

May 08, 2017 20:00pm - Stamford Bridge

Premier League

Chelsea can move a step closer to the title with victory over relegation battlers Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge on Monday night. Meanwhile, a shock win for the visitors would keep their survival hopes alive.

Chelsea looking to capitalise on Spurs slip-up

A 3-0 win away to Everton last week moved Chelsea to within touching distance of the Premier League title. And with Closest rivals Tottenham Hotspur losing at West Ham on Friday night, the Blues can put one hand on the trophy with a win against their bottom-three opponents on Monday.

The Londoners have now scored seven goals in the two games they have played since falling at Old Trafford and finally kept a clean sheet after conceding in each of the previous 12 games.

Meanwhile, Middlesbrough will arrive in London unbeaten in two following a win against Sunderland and a draw against Manchester City, both on home soil. Away from the Riverside Stadium, their form leaves a lot to be desired with just two points and two goals scored in their last seven matches.

Boro will have been boosted by Hull City`s defeat at home to Sunderland on Saturday but Swansea City`s win over Everton still leaves them seven points from safety with three left to play. Since Aitor Karanka departed in March, the club’s points per game ratio has dropped from 0.81 to 0.43, the worst of any team in the league during the same spell.
