Juventus vs Monaco - Champions League Preview and Odds

May 09, 2017 19:45pm - Juventus Stadium

Champions League - Semi-finals second leg (2-0)

Juventus will seek to maintain their two-goal advantage when they host AS Monaco in this Champions League semi-final second leg.

Italians proving tough nuts to crack

Having become the first side to earn a clean sheet at the Stade Louis II this season, Juventus will now look to finish the job they began so clinically in Monaco.

The reigning Italian league champions have kept seven clean sheets in their last nine Champions League home matches and have conceded just three goals in their 10 fixtures at home in Serie A. What`s more, they have yet to concede a goal in the knockout stages of this competition. With such a strong backline at their disposal, it is hard to imagine them not qualifying for the final in Cardiff.

Meanwhile, Monaco may be left to rue a handful of chances that went begging early on in last week`s encounter. They did manage to net three times in each of their previous two away legs in this competition, however, the opposition defence on both those occasions (Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund) was inferior to the one they will face on Tuesday night.

However, they will now doubt be afforded some space to attack and an early goal could make things interesting. The real problems might come at the other end where their defence will be looking to keep their first clean sheet away from home in the Champions League in 11 matches.

Betting odds and tips

This will be yet another clash of contrasting styles with the attack-minded French tested against the disciplined defence and incisive counter-attacking of the Italians. With a two-goal cushion to defend, Allegri`s men can be expected to keep things tight so a big goal tally should not be expected. In fact, it will be a surprise if there is more than a goal or two in this game.
