Premier League preview and odds: Chelsea vs West Bromwich Albion

December 11, 2016 13:00pm - Stamford Bridge

Referee: M. Dean

Premier League

League leaders Chelsea will look to maintain their advantage at the top of the pile when they welcome seventh-ranked West Bromwich Albion to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Chelsea aiming for ninth-straight win

A run of eight straight victories has propelled Chelsea to the top of the Premier League table with just over a third of the season gone. The London club have a three-point lead over city rivals Arsenal and will be hoping to keep their rivals at arm`s length by bagging their ninth-straight win on Sunday.

The Blues have won all but one of their home games this term and have conceded just one goal in their last four matches at Stamford Bridge. They have only failed to score in one of their 14 matches this term.

Last time out, they secured an impressive 3-1 win away to pre-season title favourites Manchester City.

Meanwhile, opponents West Bromwich Albion are also enjoying a good run of form, having won three and drawn one of their last four matches. In total, Tony Pulis` men have lost just two of their last 10 matches and just one of their last five on the road.

The Baggies come into this match on the back of a 3-1 home win against Watford. In their last away match, they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Hull City. As a result of their good form, the West Midlands side have risen to seventh place in the table, just a point adrift of league giants Manchester United.

Team news

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has a mucle injury and is a doubt for this game, while Oscar (illness), John Terry (muscle strain), Marco van Ginkel (knee) and Kurt Zouma (ACL) are all out of action.

Meanwhile, the visitors will have to make do without the services of Boaz Myhill (knock), while both Gareth McAuley (knock) and James Morrison (knock) remain doubtful.

Betting odds and tips

Chelsea`s record of eight straight wins makes them clear favourites for this match. However, West Bromwich Albion are proving to be a tough side to beat.

The Blues have scored at least once in 13 of their 14 matches in the current campaign and 11 of those games have produced over 2.5 goals.

West Bromwich have scored in all but one of their away matches including their last five in a row.

Despite West Brom’s decent run of form, Chelsea are a real force to be reckoned with right now and should cruise to a win in this game.

You can back Chelsea/Over 2.5 Goals at a best price of 10/11.
