Premier League preview and odds: Leicester City vs Manchester City

December 10, 2016 17:30pm - King Power Stadium

Referee: M. Oliver

Premier League

Reigning Premier League champions Leicester City are well out of the title race, having fallen 21 points off the pace. This weekend, they could find themselves in the relegation zone if they fail to take points off fourth-ranked Manchester City when the teams meet at the King Power Stadium.

Relegation scrap looming for Premier League Champions

Leicester City`s woeful attempt at defending their Premier League title has left them languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table just two points above the drop zone.

The Foxes have won just one of their last nine matches and have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last seven. However, their home record still makes encouraging reading, with just one defeat in their last 22 league matches at the King Power Stadium.

Last time, out, Claudio Ranieri`s men were beaten 2-1 away to perennial strugglers Sunderland and prior to that, they were held 2-2 at home to newly-promoted Middlesbrough.

Meanwhile, opponents Manchester City will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at home to Chelsea. As a result of that loss, Pep Guardiola`s men have slipped to fourth place in the table but are still only four points off the pace with just over a third if the season gone.

Away from home, the Sky Blues have won their last three in a row and have scored at least twice in all but one of their games.

Team news

Danny Drinkwater is suspended for the home side, while Kasper Schmeichel (hand) is still a doubt.

Nicolas Otamendi, Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero are all suspended for the visitors, while Vincent Kompany (knee) is still out. Raheem Sterling (knee) and Fabian Delph (back in training) are both doubtful for inclusion.

Manchester City: LWWDW

Betting odds and tips

Leicester City have conceded in each of their last seven games and 10 of their 14 matches have produced over 2.5 goals. In addition, 12 of their 13 points have been earned at home.

Manchester City have won six of their seven away matches this term and scored at least two goals in each of those wins.

The statistics point to a decent goal count and both teams should score in this game.

Despite Leicester`s decent home record, City are very strong on the road and can be expected to prevail, despite some significant absentees.
