Barcelona vs Tottenham Hotspur - Champions League Group Stage

December 11, 2018 20:00pm - Camp Nou

Champions League Group Stage

Tottenham travel to the Camp Nou with their Champions League progress hanging in the balance while Barcelona already are already making plans for the knockout stages.

The fact that the Spanish side have already qualified will give hope to Tottenham who need a win to guarantee progression. However, they can still go through with a draw or defeat. As long as they are at least level on points with the Inter at the end of the night, the Londoners will follow Barcelona to the next stage.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men looked to have fluffed their lines early on losing to Inter, Barcelona and then drawing to unfancied PSV. However, they resurrected their campaign by beating PSV and Inter on home soil to keep destiny in their own hands. They travel to Spain on the back of a comfortable 2-1 Premier League win at Leicester City.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are already through to the next round and may decide to rest players for this clash. The La Liga side have lost just one of their last 15 in all competitions and have won their last four matches in a row. They won four and drew one of their Champions League matches and will start favourites here regardlessof the team they put out.

The Blaugrana returned to the top of the Spanish top flight at the weekend thanks to a 4-0 at city rivals Espanyol while Sevilla could only draw at Valencia.

Betting odds and tips

Barcelona have not lost at home in the Champions League since 2013 and have only conceded seven goals in their last 20 home matches in the competition.

Spurs will have their work cut out matching Inter`s result as the Italians are at home to bottom of the table PSV. With that in mind, Tottenham will have to go for the win. But their recent for in Europe suggests they are still short of the level required to achieve that aim. What`s more, Barcelona will look to defend their unbeaten record in the competition despite having already qualified.

As a result, a draw is the bets that Spurs can realistically hope for. They will then have to rely on a favourable result in Italy to see them through.

You can back the Draw at 11/5.
