Stoke City vs Hull City - Premier League preview and odds

April 15, 2017 15:00pm - Bet365 Stadium

Premier League

Out-of-form Stoke City will look to break a four-game losing streak when they welcome poor travellers Hull City to the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Lack of progression a worry for Potters

After finishing in ninth place for three straight seasons and adding significant reinforcements last summer, Stoke City will at least want to equal that feat this term. However, a run of four consecutive defeats has left Mark Hughes` men languishing in 13th place with their Premier League status still not confirmed.

While it is unlikely that the Potters will face the drop, there is a high chance that they will finish in the bottom half of the table, well short of last year`s tally of 51 points. The Staffordshire side have lost their last two in a row on home soil, although those matches were against two of the current top three (Liverpool and Chelsea).

Meanwhile, Hull City will arrive in Stoke-on-Trent having failed to win any of their last 15 away games. In fact, they have only picked up two points on the road since September. Luckily their home form has improved significantly and they now have a realistic chance of retaining their top-flight status.

Tigers boss Marc Silva has helped to turn the KCOM Stadium into a fortress in 2017 but he has yet to unlock the secret to winning away in the Premier League. However, as long as his side continues to pick up points in their own backyard, there won`t be too many complaints.

Team news

Charlie Adam (knock), Joe Allen (hamstring strain), Jack Butland (ankle) and Stephen Ireland (double leg fracture) are all undergoing treatment and are expected to miss out for the home side this weekend.

Meanwhile, Ryan Mason (fractured skull), Will Keane (knee), Greg Luer (cartilage), Brian Lenihan (knee) and Moses Odubajo (MPFL) are all crocked for the visitors, while Harry Maguire (knee), Omar Elabdellaoui (back) and Dieumerci Mbokani Bezua (hamstring strain) are all on the doubtful list.

Hull City: LWWLW

Betting odds and tips

Stoke City have lost their last four matches on the trot and their last two at home. However, Hull City have earned 83% of their points on home soil this term and have lost all but three of their away matches, including 13 of their last 14. With that in mind, we won’t expect too many goals from this game.

You can back Under 2.5 Goals at a best price of 13/4.
