Barcelona vs Manchester United - Champions League Quarter-final Preview and Odds

April 16, 2019 20:00pm - Camp Nou (Barcelona)

Champions League: Quarter-final - Second Leg

Barcelona were far from their best in the first leg of their Champions League clash with Manchester United but still came away with a one-goal advantage and a clean sheet. They will look to get the job done on Tuesday night when they host the English side at the Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi provided the assist and Luis Suarez the decisive touch to force Luke Shaw to put the ball in his own net in the first leg. However, the Argentinean superstar had an otherwise quiet night.

Despite the Spanish team`s poor showing, it was still enough to beat the hosts, who failed to make the most of home advantage. As a result, Ernesto Valverde`s men are now clear favourites to progress at 4/11.

The Blaugrana have lost just one of their last 19 games in all competitions and with the league title virtually sewn up, were able to make 10 changes for the weekend’s draw at bottom-of-the-table Huesca.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s honeymoon period under new boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer appears to be over. They have now lost four of their last six in all competitions, their only wins coming at home to Watford and West Ham United. As a result of their dip in form, they have dropped back down to six in the Premier League table having briefly occupied fourth spot.

They failed to create any meaningful chance in the first leg and now face a mammoth task to reach the last four as they return to the scene of the 1999 Champions League win.

Betting odds and tips

Barcelona have not been beaten in their last 30 Champions League home matches, keeping clean sheets in nine of the last 13. So, a Manchester United victory looks unlikely. Even getting on the score sheet could prove tricky for the visitors so the Home Win to Nil looks like a decent bet.

You can back Barcelona to Win to Nil at 13/8.
