Champions League: Quarter-final - Second Leg

Liverpool take a 2-0 lead to Porto on Wednesday night as they look to progress to the Champions League semi-finals for the second year running.

The Reds were fairly comfortable in the first leg and importantly kept a clean sheet. If they can score an away goal in Porto it would leave their hosts needing to score four to progress.

The fixture will be another welcome distraction for Jurgen Klopp`s men who are involved in one of the tightest Premier League title races in years. Having overcome their toughest challenges in recent weeks, they are still nicely poised to pounce should Manchester City drop points. Last time out, they beat Chelsea 2-0 to make it seven straight wins in all competitions and 16 games unbeaten since their FA Cup defeat to Wolves.

The only slight concern for the Merseyside team will be their European away form. Prior to their 3-1 win in Munich in the last round, they had lost five CL away matches in a row. Hopefully, for them, the last game was a turning point. On a positive note, they won 5-0 when they visited this ground in this competition last year.

Meanwhile, Porto have it all to do as they seek to put two goals past Liverpool while keeping a clean sheet. If the Reds score, it is fair to say the tie will be as a good as over.

Sérgio Conceição`s men are also involved in a title race and made further strides with a 3-0 win at Portimonense last time out. A result that left them in second place on goal difference behind Benfica.

Betting odds and tips

Liverpool are finding some good form at just the right time and should wrap up this tie without too many problems. Their win in Munich hinted at a reversal of fortune on the road in Europe and they look good value at 23/20 to win on the night - especially considering they won 5-0 here last year.
