Wales vs Denmark - UEFA Nations League Preview and Odds

November 16, 2018 19:45pm - Cardiff City Stadium

UEFA Nations League

Wales and Denmark will battle for supremacy at the top of League B, Group 4 with Wales currently leading the way on six points having played one more game than their opponents who are just two points back.

While some teams may still view the Nations League as little more than a glorified friendly schedule, there are those who are taking the competition seriously, and both these sides fall into that category. In fact, Denmark`s Christian Eriksen described this clash as being like a final.

Wales have already beaten Republic of Ireland twice while Denmark beat Wales in Copenhagen, but could only manage a draw in Dublin. A win for either side would secure top spot in the group while a draw would take the battle for the top two places to the next round of games, relegating the Irish in the process.

Following their defeat in the last meeting between the two, Ryan Gigg`s side were mauled 4-1 by Spain, but bounced back to earn a dramatic win in Dublin. However, they don`t have a great record on home soil having won just one of their last five in Cardiff losing three and drawing one..

Denmark surprised many by reaching the Last 16 at the World Cup in Russia. Their success was built on their solid defensive displays with an improved attacking threat compared with recent years. With two matches left to play, a win here would wrap up top spot with a game to spare.

Betting odds and tips

With an extra game in hand, the priority for Denmark will be to avoid defeat so they may take a cautious approach here. They did not concede in any of their last three matches and will aim for another clean sheet here. That brings the 0-0 draw into play, but with Wales pushing for the win, they could be vulnerable to the counter attack. A correct score of 1-0 to Denmark is tempting at 11/2, but those in a cautious mood might want to stick to the clean sheet market.

You can back Denmark to keep a clean sheet at 6/4.
