Premier League preview and odds: Liverpool vs Swansea City

January 21, 2016 13:30pm - Anfield

Referee: Kevin Friend

Premier League

Liverpool will look to break a run of two-straight Premier League draws when they take on bottom-of-table Swansea City at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime.

Reds still in title race

A run of two-straight draws has left Liverpool in third place in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of league leaders Chelsea. But despite their mini-blip, the Reds have only been beaten once in their last 19 league matches and have not been beaten at home in over a year.

Jurgen Klopp`s men come into this game on the back of a 1-0 win away to Plymouth in Wednesday`s FA Cup third round replay, in which they once again left out many of their first-team regulars.

Meanwhile, Swansea City could lift themselves off the bottom of the table if they can pull off a shock win on Saturday. Their first league game under new boss Paul Clement ended in 4-0 home defeat to Arsenal. Prior to that, caretaker boss Alan Curtis guided them to a 2-1 win away to relegation rivals Crystal Palace.

With the bottom four teams all separated by a single point, a tight relegation battle can be expected. The Swans will be hoping that their new gaffer can match the achievements of Italian coach Francesco Guidolin, who guided them to safety after being drafted in at the same stage last season.

Team news

The home side will be without the injured group of Marko Grujic (tendon), Joel Matip (ankle), Adam Bogdan (ACL) and Danny Ings (meniscus), while Sadio Mane is still away on African cup of Nations duty.

Meanwhile, the visitors will have to cope without the services of Modou Barrow (knock), Neil Taylor (cheekbone) and Jefferson Montero (hamstring).

Betting odds and tips

Liverpool will be clear favourites to win but there won`t be much value on offer for the home win.

Instead, look at the Over 2.5 Goals market. So far this season, 67% of Liverpool`s home games and 70% of Swansea City`s away games have produced this result.

You can back over 2.5 Goals at a best price of 4/9 with Bet365.
