Liverpool vs Crystal Palace - Premier League Preview and Odds

January 19, 2019 15:00pm - Anfield Stadium

Premier League

League leaders Liverpool`s last home defeat in the league came against Crystal Palace nearly two years ago. Since then, they have gone 31 matches unbeaten winning 22 and drawing nine. The Reds will hope to avoid a repeat of that result as they look to extend their lead over Manchester City to seven points, on a temporary basis at least.

Jurgen Klopp`s men have conceded just three goals in their last 15 home games and have won their last six in a row scoring 19 times. In their last home game they fought back from a goal down to engineer a 5-1 win over fifth-ranked Arsenal.

It hasn`t all been plain sailing for the Reds who followed that win with a 2-1 at Manchester City before being their second string were dumped out of the FA Cup by Wolverhampton Wanderers. They bounced back last week with a narrow 1-0 victory away to Brighton and Hove Albion to maintain their four-point gap at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Palace will hope to emulate their efforts of April 2017 when they came away from Anfield with all three points following a 2-1 win. Since then, they have lost three in a row against the Merseyside team,

Roy Hodgson`s men have won just six of their 22 games this season but remain are four points clear of the drop zone. Away from home they have won their last two in a row including a shock 3-2 triumph at Manchester City and a 2-0 win at Wolves. Four of their six win this season have come on the road. Only five teams in the division have conceded less goals than the Eagles.

Betting odds and tips

Palace have the defensive record of a top six side, but their scoring record is dire. Only three teams have scored less than Hodgson`s men this term although 14 of their 20 goals have come on the road.

Liverpool are defending a 31-game unbeaten run at home and their only dropped points at Anfield this season came via a 0-0 draw against defending champions Manchester City. Their defensive record of just three goals conceded in their last 15 home games combined with Palace`s shyness in front of goal makes the Win to Nil bet looks like a decent option.

You can back Liverpool/Win to Nil at 5/4.
