Premier League preview and odds: Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur

January 21, 2016 17:30pm - Etihad Stadium

Referee: Andre Marriner

Premier League

In the standout clash from Saturday`s Premier League schedule, fifth-ranked Manchester City will look to get their title challenge back on track when they take on second Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium. The visitors themselves could do with a win to keep pace with leaders Chelsea.

Big game for two teams with title ambitions

Manchester City will take to the field on Saturday evening knowing that a win would put them right back in the title race, while defeat could leave them with a mountain to climb. With the teams around them all in great form, Pep Guardiola`s men need to put in a decent run of their own after losing two of their last three matches.

The Sky Blues have a strong track record on home soil, having lost just one of their last 13 at the Etihad. That defeat came against Chelsea (1-3) back in December but since then, they have won their last three home matches in a row. They have scored in all their home matches and conceded in 80% of them. In total, 71% of all their matches this season have produced over 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, opponents Tottenham Hotspur have won their last 6 matches in a row including their last two on the road. In addition, they have scored four goals in three of their last four games. They come into this game on the back of a 4-0 home against West Bromwich Albion, having previously cruised to a 2-0 home win against league leaders Chelsea.

Team news

Fernandinho is suspended for the home side who will also be without Ilkay Gundogan (knee) and Vincent Kompany, while Fernando has picked up a knock and is doubtful.

Meanwhile, Jan Vertonghen (ankle) and Erik Lamela (hip) are both out of action for the visitors.

Betting odds and tips

City always score at home and Spurs have scored 30 goals in their last 10 league games. So goals should be on the agenda on Saturday night.
