Swansea City vs Stoke City - Premier League preview and odds

April 22, 2017 15:00pm - Liberty Stadium

Premier League

Swansea City will hope to break a six-game winless streak when they host 11th-ranked Stoke City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The visitors themselves will be out to equal or better last year`s ninth-place finish.

Swansea City revival short-lived

After enjoying an upturn in fortunes following the arrival of new boss Paul Clement, Swansea City have reverted back to type and are now winless in their last six games. During that run of games, they have picked up just a single point thanks to a 0-0 draw at home to out-of-form Middlesbrough.

The Welsh club are just two points adrift of safety but with just one point gained in their six matches, that gap still looks cavernous. Their record on home soil makes better reading with just one defeat in their last five, with that reverse coming against title challengers Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, Stoke City will continue their quest for a fourth-straight ninth-place finish when they make the trip to Wales on Saturday afternoon. The Potters broke a four-game losing streak last time with a 3-1 win at home to Hull City.

Away from home, however, they recent record makes grim reading. Mark Hughes` men have not scored a goal in five matches and have picked up just a single point in that time. Their only away win since November came at bottom club Sunderland.

Team news

Jack Cork (ankle), Angel Rangel (metatarsal fracture) and Nathan Dyer (Achilles) are all expected to miss out for the home side.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be without the injured duo of Ibrahim Afellay and Stephen Ireland (double leg fracture), while Joe Allen has a hamstring problem and remains a doubt.

Stoke City: LWWWW

Betting odds and tips

Swansea City have failed to win any of their last six matches, while 70% of all their games have produced more than 2.5 goals in total. However, Stoke City have failed to score in any of their last five away matches so a high count should not be expected this weekend.

The Welsh side have been in decent for at home and can be expected to prevail against a team that has not scored on the road since the middle of January.

You can back the home side to win at a reasonable 6/5 with Bet365.
