West Ham United vs Everton - Premier League preview and odds

April 23, 2017 15:00pm - London Stadium

Premier League

West Ham United can all but secure their Premier League status for another season with a win against seventh-ranked Everton on Saturday. The visitors themselves will be out to keep the pressure on the teams above them as they maintain their slim hopes of a European place.

A season to forget for the Hammers

After a season of over-achievement term, West Ham United have had a season to forget since moving into their new Olympic Stadium home. The Hammers look set to retain their Premier League status but they would have hoped to have been challenging for Europe rather than evading the drop by this stage of the campaign.

There is no doubt that the Irons have struggled to settle in their new home and they come into this game having won just one of their last five at the London Stadium. However, that win did come in their last home game against Swansea City. Since then, Slaven Bilic`s men have played out a 2-2 draw away to Sunderland.

Meanwhile, opponents Everton will continue their unlikely quest for a European place when they make the journey south on Saturday. The Blues are level on points with Arsenal and just three points adrift of fifth-ranked Manchester United but both of those teams have two games in hand on the Toffees.

Ronald Koeman`s men have not won any of their last five matches away from home, having drawn three and lost two and have won just two of their last 13 on the road. They come into this game on the back of a 3-1 win at home to Burnley. Team news

Obiang (ankle, Aug), Antonio (hamstring), Carroll (groin) and Tore (knee) are all injured for the home side, while Reid (hamstring) and Sakho (match fitness) are both doubtful. Byram and Noble are both suspended and will also miss out.

Meanwhile, the visitors will have to make do without the injured group of Lennon (knock), McCarthy (hamstring), Bolasie (knee) and Coleman (broken leg), while Besic remains a doubt.

Betting odds and tips

The home side have won just one of their five at home and the away side have not won any of their last five on the road. As a result, the draw looks like a tempting prospect in this game.
