Manchester City vs Burnley - FA Cup Preview and Odds

January 26, 2019 15:00pm - Etihad Stadium

FA Cup Fourth Round

Manchester City`s assault on all fronts continues on Saturday when they host in-form Burnley in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

The Sky Blues are still involved in all four cup competitions they entered and are favourites to win three of them, the only exception being the Premier League where Liverpool have been installed as new favourites.

City won the last of their five FA Cups in 2011 beating Stoke City 1-0. That was their first win since they triumphed over Leicester City in 1969.

Pep Guardiola`s men prevailed 4-1 when these two sides met at the Third Round stage last year. Burnley last won the FA Cup more than 100 years ago in 1914. They have twice been runners-up since, their last appearance in final coming in 1962.

Sean Dyche`s men edged past Barnsley in the last round, but will find life much harder in this round. They have won just one of their last 17 encounters with the Citizens, their sole win coming in the Premier League back in 2015.

Burnley had a torrid time up until Boxing Day, winning just three league matches, but since then their form has improved. They arrive in Manchester having won four and drawn one of their last five in all competitions. As a result, they have climbed out of the drop zone and are currently 16th in the league table.

Betting odds and tips

Pep Guardiola will not approach this game lightly and a strong XI can be expected for City. Meanwhile, Burnley may find some relief playing cup football after a difficult league campaign, but their main priority is still survival. The Clarets will give it their all, but don`t expect any upsets in this one.

City have led at half time more than any other top flight side this season and only Liverpool have won more second halves.

You can back City to win both halves at at 4/6.
