Chile vs Australia - 2017 Confederations Cup Preview and Odds

June 25, 2017 16:00pm - Otkrytiye Arena

Confederations Cup - Group B

While Germany and Chile are favourites qualify from Group B, all four teams can still qualify as we head into the final round of fixtures.

Australia must win to stand any chance of progressing and they must also ensure that their goal difference is sufficient to see them through in the event of a tied point`s tally. As a result, we could see an open game, as the Socceroos throw caution to the wind against a team that just needs a point to progress.

As the Australians go in pursuit of goals, Chile`s natural instinct to attack could see them punish their rivals on the break. The Aussies have yet to keep a clean sheet in this tournament and both teams have scored in each of their games. In fact, that particular bet (Both Teams to Score) has paid out in seven of their last fixtures overall. The team from down under have shown some good quality in this event so far and pushed Germany all the way in an entertaining 3-2 encounter lat week.

Meanwhile, Chile will be hoping that their attacking quality will be enough to get them over the line. If the match turns into an open end-to-end contest, they will fancy their chances of out-scoring their opponents. However, they can be vulnerable at the back on occasions and have only kept two clean sheets in their last seven matches overall.

Alexis Sanchez looks to be back to his best after returning from injury, netting against Germany in the last game. If, as expected, he is given the space to operate on Sunday afternoon, he might be worth backing in the Anytime Goal Scorer market.

In the only previous meeting between the two sides (at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil) Chile prevailed by a 3-1 scoreline.
