Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will face former pupil Frank Lampard as a rival coach for the first time when Derby County pay a visit to Old Trafford in the Caraboa Cup on Tuesday night. The two men enjoyed a successful spell together at Chelsea with Lampard the driving force during Mourinho`s successful first spell at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United have not been in great form in the league and there is an air of negativity about the club. Paul Pogba`s recent comments about their negative playing style hinted at some discord between the players and coach.

Last time out, the Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw at home by newly promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers. That draw left them seventh in the Premier League table eight points behind leaders Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Derby County made a decent start to the season under their new manager. A record of five wins, one draw and three losses has left the Rams in sixth place just two points off top spot. They come into this game on the back of an excellent 3-1 home win against an in-form Brentford side who took the lead after just one minute. The way they bounced back from that early setback showcased the positive mentality that has been instilled since Lampard arrived.

Derby have lost just one of their last seven in all competitions and just two of their last six away from home. They will be motivated to help the former Chelsea man get one over on his mentor here.
