French Open preview and odds: Milos Raonic vs Andrej Martin

May 27, 2016 - Roland Garros, Third Round

After a trouble-free opening two rounds, World No. 9 Milos Raonic must now go up against 26-year-old Slovakian qualifier Andrej Martin, with a fourth round berth up for grabs.

A good start to 2016 for Raonic

Since the beginning of the year, only Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Nick Kyrgios have beaten Milos Raonic. He reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open, the final at Indian Wells and has reached the quarter-finals in three of his last four tournaments.

The 25-year-old Canadian has yet to drop a set in this year`s French Open and will now face a player who is 124 places below him in the rankings table. He has reached 17 ATP finals in his career and won nine - however, none of them were played on clay.

Meanwhile at the age of 26, Andrej Martin is playing in just his second Grand Slam event after debuting at the US Open last year. He came through the French Open qualifying rounds as a lucky loser and took full advantage by beating Spaniard Daniel Munoz De La Nava in round one and World No. 31 Lucas Pouille in round two.

The Slovakian currently ranks at 133 in the world and has never been higher than 119. However, that could all change this week. This will be his first ever match against a player in the top 20. He has won six titles on the Challenger tour, five of which were contested in clay.

Betting predictions

Milos Raonic will be clear favourite but his opponent has a good record on clay and could grab a set.

Back the Canadian to win 3-1 at 10/3 with Bet365.
