Manchester City vs Real Madrid - International Champions Cup Preview and Odds

July 27, 2017 04:00pm - Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

Pre-season Friendly

Two sides without a pre-season win to their name will go head-to-head on Thursday as Manchester City take on Real Madrid at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Manchester City`s North American tour got off to the worst possible start when they fell 2-0 to arch rivals Manchester United, in what was in the first Manchester derby to be contested outside of United Kingdom. After this match, they have games against Spurs and West Ham to look forward to before they travel to Brighton for the opening game of the season.

City boss, Pep Guardiola will hope to give some game time to new recruits Danilo, Kyle Walker and Ederson, while fellow newcomer Bernardo Silva is still recovering from his appearance at the Confederations Cup and will not feature.

Meanwhile, the Real Madrid squad remains much unchanged from the one that lifted the Spanish League title last season, with Theo Hernandez the only addition and Danilo, James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata the only high profile departures.

Having flown the U21s out to the United States to join up with the senior squad, there is a good chance that Coach Zinedine Zidane could field some younger faces in this clash. However, star player Cristiano Ronaldo will not feature as he continues his Confederations Cup recovery program.

Los Blancos lost their opening match to Manchester United on penalties after a rather dull 1-1 draw. Following this game, they will take on Barcelona and an MLS All Stars team before facing the Catalan side again in the Spanish Super Cup in August.

Recent form (All Comps)

Manchester City: LWWWW

Real Madrid: LWWWW

Betting odds and tips

Neither side looked great in their opening game but with Real Madrid expected to field some fresh faces, City could take advantage. And at a price of 13/5, they look great value, despite their lacklustre display in the opening game.
