Norwich will be attempting to pull away from the drop zone on Monday when they welcome league trailers Aston Villa to Carrow Road in the Barclays Premier League.

Canaries on edge of danger zone

After enjoying an away win at Old Trafford, Norwich were brought crashing back down to earth by a clinical Tottenham Hotspur display on Saturday. It was just the second defeat in the last five games for the Canaries, who will be hoping to bounce back against the team with the worst record in the league.

After falling to Spurs at the weekend, the Canaries have slipped back to 17th in the table and remain outside of the drop zone thanks to a superior goal difference over rivals Newcastle.

Villa still have a pulse

Aston Villa are still nine points from safety but they are not dead and buried just yet. A run of three draws in the last four games have given Villa fans some feint hope that they can turn their season around, and start to pick up the vital wins that they will need to survive.

If they can survive from their current position, it would be a remarkable achievement but Coach Remi Garde is not giving up just yet, having led his team through their best run of the season, with four draws from their last seven games.

Team news

Norwich are still without Matt Jarvis but defender Andre Wisdom is expected to return.

Meanwhile, Villa are likely to be without Micah Richards and Carlos Sanchez, while Jordan Amavi and Gary Gardner are both definitely still missing.
