Chelsea vs Inter - International Champions Cup Preview and Odds

Published on: 28/07/2017

While pre-season matches do not offer a true reflection of a team`s abilities, they can expose any fitness or tactical issues that may be carried into the competitive arena. In this respect, Chelsea have looked slightly off the pace at times, especially in the opening half against the Germans on Tuesday. Alvaro Morata saw his first action in a Blue shirt in the final half hour of that game but failed to make any real impact.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan have had a much busier pre-season schedule and seem to have grown as the summer has progressed, culminating in their win over Bayern Munich on Thursday. Prior to that, they beat Lyon and played out a 1-1 draw against Schalke 04.

While their Milan neighbours have been splashing the cash, Luciano Spalletti has added Milan Skrirar, Facundo Colidio and Borja Valero to the ranks, at a cost of around £30m, while several players have returned from loan spells.

With the English club using this game as final warm-up ahead of their first competitive match, both sides should get a clearer indication of their current level of form.

Nine of Chelsea`s last 10 matches have produced Over 2.5 Goals and the Blues scored three of more in seven of those matches. As a result, another high goal count should be expected here.
