Southampton vs Hull City - Premier League preview and odds

April 29, 2017 15:00pm - St. Mary`s Stadium

Premier League

Southampton will look to break a two-game losing streak when they host relegation battlers Hull City at St. Mary`s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Top 10 finish target for Saints

After back-to-back defeats against the first and fourth-ranked teams in the league, Southampton will now face one of the teams battling for survival at the other end of the table.

The Saints have had and unremarkable season overall, the main highlight being their League Cup final appearance back in February. As it stands, an eighth place finish is the best that they can hope for in the league, with West Bromwich Albion currently standing in their way of achieving that goal.

Claude Puel`s men have won just one of their last four matches at home and their overall form at St. Mary’s has tailed off since the end of last year.

Meanwhile, Hull City continue to struggle on the road while excelling on home soil. The Tigers have lost 14 of their last 15 matches away from home, their only point coming at Old Trafford back in February. However, they are unbeaten in eight at home having won six and drawn two, a record that has seen them rise out of the bottom three up to 17th in the table.

Despite their resurgence, Marco Silva`s men are still having to look over their shoulders with Swansea City just two points behind in the battle to avoid relegation. If they can pick up their first away win since August, they would move a step closer to retaining their top-flight status.

Betting odds and tips

Hull City have been poor on the road but the Saints have also been floundering at home. With everything to play for, the Tigers might just grab a point and look good value in the Draw No Bet market.
