La Liga preview and odds: Espanyol vs Sevilla

May 01, 2016 16:00pm - RCDE Stadium

La Liga

Espanyol will continue their fight for La Liga survival on Sunday when they welcome a Sevilla side who has yet to win a league game away from home to the RCDE Stadium.

Espanyol not clear of danger yet

A run of five games without a win has pulled Espanyol right back into the La Liga relegation battle. The Club from Barcelona are now just four points clear of the drop zone with three games left to play. Anything other than a win this weekend would leave them feeling the pressure.

Constantin Galca`s men come into this game on the back of a disappointing 4-0 loss away to in-form Las Palmas. Prior to that, they were held 1-1 at home by high-flying Celta de Vigo. On home soil, they have won three of their last six, having drawn on and lost the other two.

Sevilla still looking for first league away win

Sevilla are currently occupying seventh place in the league table but remarkably, they remain the only top-flight team not to have won away from home all season.

With a Europa League semi-final second leg to prepare for, Unai Emery`s men will have to balance their preparations as they look to secure European football for next season. If they fail to win the Europa league, they will need to overhaul one of the teams above them in the league in order to claim a qualification spot. Grabbing their first win away from home this Sunday could help them to achieve that goal.

Team news

The home side will be without the suspended Javi Lopez, while Felipe Caicedo, Canas, Rober Correa, Oscar Duarte and Arbilla are all out injured.

Meanwhile, the away side will have to cope without the injured group of Michael Krohn-Dehli, Jose Antonio Reyes, Benoit Tremoulinas and Marco Andreolli.

Betting odds and tips

Sevilla can`t seem to find a way to win on the road, and have not looked like bucking that trend in recent games.

You can back the home side to bag a crucial win at 11/8 with Bet365.
