Bet365 betting On Manchester City

Published on: 05/04/2017

Manchester City were once the poor neighbours of Manchester United, but in the last decade they`ve emerged from their neighbour`s shadow to establish themselves as one of the biggest clubs in English Football. A Money-Bags Chairman bought them a new stadium, some of the world`s best players, and even enticed in one of the world`s leading managers in Pep Guardiola – so let`s take a look at some of the ways of betting on Manchester City.

The Premier League

Manchester City have been Champions Of England on 4 occasions in their 122-year history, claiming their first title in 1937. They then waited another 31-years before being crowned champions again in 1968, and then waited another 44-years before winning their first Premier League title in 2012. City fans only had to wait until 2014 to win their second title though and, with plenty of money at the manager’s disposal, City probably won’t have to wait too long before they add to that total. However, it remains to be seen as to whether Pep Guardiola’s rather one-dimensional attacking tactics are suited to scrapping-it-out when his team are called upon to do so.

The FA Cup

Manchester City enjoyed FA Cup relatively early in their history when lifting the prestigious trophy in 1904, which was the first of their 5 wins. Those wins have been well spread-out though, with their other 4 FA Cup successes coming in 1934, 1956, 1969 and 2011. City have also been the losing FA Cup finalists on 5 occasions, the last time being in 2013 when they lost a very winnable final against Wigan. The FA Cup may not always be Manchester City’s top priority but, with the 2017 FA Cup being Pep Guardiola’s only realistic remaining chance of a trophy in 2017, it will be interesting to see whether he can guide them to win both the semi-final and final, with them priced-up at 2/1 to win the 2017 FA Cup with Bet365.

The EFL Cup

The EFL CUP, was formerly known as the League Cup, and Manchester City have lifted the trophy on 4 occasions in 1969, 1976, 2014 and 2015. There’s are two ways of looking at City’s future chances, with their strike-rate of 2 wins in the last 4 seasons suggesting they could be good value for a repeat success soon, or you could look at it as they’ve twice won two in close succession with a big gap between those two doubles.

The FA Community Shield

Manchester City have won 4 FA Community Shields, and history suggests they’re a good bet to win it after they’ve been crowned champions, with 3 successes from 4 attempts. Meanwhile, they’ve won it just once after winning the FA Cup.

Europe

Victory in the Champions League remains one of Manchester City’s top priorities, and it remains the reason why Pep Guardiola was lured in to be manager. However, after failing at his first-attempt, it will be interesting to see which players, if any, Guardiola brings into the squad with a Champions League challenge in mind.

Win A Double

Manchester City have completed just one domestic double, winning the League and League Cup in 2014.
