Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League Preview and Odds

September 01, 2019 16:30pm - Emirates Stadium (London)

Premier League

Arsenal will look to put five points between themselves and Tottenham Hotspur when the two go head to head in the North London derby on Sunday. The visitors have just one win to their name this season and suffered a shock defeat at home to Newcastle last weekend.

The Gunners` only defeat of the campaign so far came away to league leaders Liverpool last weekend. Prior to that, they earned back-to-back wins away to Newcastle and at home to Burnley. They were not entirely convincing in either game but did enough to get the job done. New signing Nicolas Pepe has already showed glimpse of what he is capable of and Arsenal fans will be hoping he can make the difference this season.

Unai Emery`s men will be aiming for Champions League qualification this year after missing out last term. Maintaining an advantage over their fiercest rivals could make that task much easier. A win on Sunday would lift them into third place in the table.

Meanwhile, Spurs will see this game as an opportunity to get their season back on track after a stuttering start in which they have picked up just four points from a possible nine. They began the campaign with a 3-1 win at home to Aston Villa and a 2-2 draw at Man City but were beaten at home by relegation candidates Newcastle United last week.

Mauricio Pochettino`s team could finish the weekend eight points adrift of league leaders Liverpool if they fail to take anything from this game. With the top two expected to drop just a handful of points between them this season, a defeat on Sunday could rule Spurs out of the title race - even at this early stage.

Betting odds and tips

Spur have lost six and drawn one of their last seven Premier League away games. In contrast, Arsenal have lost just one of their last 19 at home. As a result, the 6/4 price for the Gunners to win looks worth taking.

You can back Arsenal to win at 6/4.
