La Liga preview and odds: Atletico Madrid vs Eibar

February 06, 2016 15:00pm - Estadio Vincente Calderon

La Liga

Atletico Madrid will be hoping to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they welcome league minnows Eibar to Estadio Vincente Calderon in La Liga.

Atleti looking to bounce back from Barca blow

Atletico Madrid had only conceded three league goals away from home all season before last week`s trip to the Camp Nou. That total was increased to five as Diego Simeone`s men fell 2-1 to Barca, in a game that was not without its incidents.

The team from Madrid were reduced to nine men - following the dismissals of Filipe Luis and Diego Godin - but still remained competitive, and were perhaps unlucky not to have come away with a point. They remain in second place but are now three points behind the Catalan team having played one more game.

Eibar still punching above their weight

Despite losing their last two games, Basque minnows Eibar are still sat in eighth place in the league with a respectable total of 33 points. After avoiding relegation on a technicality last season, the smallest club in the league seem to be making the most of their reprieve.

Last time out, they were beaten on home soil by an ever-improving Malaga side (1-2), and prior to that they were defeated 5-2 away to their illustrious rivals Athletic Bilbao.

Team news

Juanfran, Diego Godin and Filipe Luis are all serving suspensions for the home side, while Lucas Hernandez and Tiago are both out injured.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Ivan Ramis and Antonio Luna.

Betting odds and tips

Only Barcelona have won in the league at Vincente Calderon this season, so Eibar will have their work cut out. In addition, the home side have conceded just one goal in their last five home matches.

Jose Mendilibar`s men have lost four of their last six on the road and could be heading for their third straight defeat.
