Arsenal vs West Ham United - Premier League preview and odds

April 05, 2017 19:45pm - Emirates Stadium

Premier League

Arsenal and West Ham United have conjured up just one win each since the end of January, prompting increased pressure on their respective managers. Both will look for a reversal of fortune when their teams clash at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday night.

Top four hopes fading for Gunners

Arsenal are now seven points adrift of the Premier League`s top four places with just 10 games left to play, although they do have games in hand on the teams immediately above them. A run of six league games featuring one win, one draw and four defeats, combined with their dismal Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich has seen fans calling for the sacking of long-term Coach Arsene Wenger.

On home soil, the Gunners` record makes better reading, with just one defeat in their last 12 matches. What`s more, they have scored in each of their last 19 matches and 71% of all their games have produced more than 2.5 goals scored.

Meanwhile, opponents West Ham United are winless in six and come into this game on the back of four straight defeats. However, they did manage to score at least one goal in each of their last seven matches. The Hammers problems have been at the other end of the pitch where they conceded at least one goal in each of their last nine matches and at least two in their last four. Away from home, they are without a clean sheet in seven.

Much like Wenger, Irons` boss Slaven Bilic has also come under increasing pressure although he still has the official backing of the board. A win in North London would go a long way to restoring faith in the Croatian and would also ease any looming relegation fears.

Team news

Laurent Koscielny, Lucas Pérez, Petr Cech and Santi Cazorla are all out of action for the home side.

Meanwhile, the visitors will have to make do without Gokhan Töre, Diafra Sakho, Aaron Cresswell, Winston Reid, Angelo Ogbonna and Pedro Obiang.

Betting odds and tips

The Hammers are leaking goals and are particularly vulnerable against the top six teams. With Arsenal still scoring well at home, this game could be a good candidate for a high goal count.
