La Liga preview and odds: Espanyol vs Real Sociedad

February 08, 2016 20:30pm - Estadi Cornellà-El Prat

La Liga

Espanyol will be hoping to end their six-game winless run in La Liga when they welcome a resurgent Real Sociedad to Barcelona on Monday night.

One win in 10 for Espnayol

Espanyol have won just one of their last 10 La Liga matches, having drawn three and lost the other six. Their poor run has seen them drop down the league table to 17th place, just one point clear of the drop zone. A win on Monday would left them above their rivals in to 14th place, level on points with Valencia and Real Betis.

In their last game, Constantin Galca`s men fell 6-0 away to Real Madrid, and prior to that, they held high-flying Villarreal to a 2-2 draw at home. On home soil, they are unbeaten in six, having won two and drawn four.

La Real finding their feet under Eusebio

Just like Espanyol, Real Sociedad have been coming to terms with life under a new Coach since the departure of David Moyes back in November. In the 11 games since Eusebio was appointed, La Real have won four, drawn three and lost four. As a result, they currently sit in 14th place in the table on 24 points, three points clear of the relegation places. A win on Monday could elevate them to 11th place.

They come into this game on the back of a 2-1 home win against Real Betis. In their last away game they were well beaten (5-1) by Sporting Gijon. The Basque Country side have not one any of their last six games on the road.

Team news

The home side will be without the injured trio of Víctor Sánchez(hamstring), Felipe Caicedo (Thigh) and Arbilla (Achilles).

Meanwhile, the visitors will be without the services of Aritz Elustondo, Carlos Martínez, Zurutuza, Raúl Navas, Agirretxe and Sergio Canales.
