Liverpool vs Burnley - Premier League Preview and Odds

March 10, 2019 12:00pm - Anfield

Premier League

Liverpool kick off Sunday`s game against Burnley four points adrift of league leaders Manchester City, but with a game in hand. A win would keep their title hopes alive heading into the final eight games of the campaign.

The Reds no longer have fate in their own hands and must now concentrate on winning their remaining games while hoping that Pep Guardiola`s men slip up.

Jurgen Klopp`s men have kept five clean sheets in a row in all competitions, but have drawn five of their last seven matches. In the Premier League, they are unbeaten in their last 35 home matches and have only drawn two of the last 15. They were held to a 1-1 draw in this fixture last year, but have won twice at Turf Moor since.

Burnley arrive on Merseyside on the back of two straight Premier League defeats. Following Saturday`s results, they have dropped to 17th in the table just two points clear of the danger zone. Defeat would leave them in a precarious position with just eight games left to play.

Overall, the Clarets have been decent away from home in 2019 having won two, drawn two and lost just one. That defeat came in their most recent away game at Newcastle which ended 2-0.

The Lancashire side are currently 24 points adrift of the total they achieved last season (54) when they finished seventh and qualified for Europe.

Betting odds and tips

The Reds have not conceded a goal since their visit to West Ham United over a month ago. What`s more, they have scored 25 goals in their last seven Premier League home matches while conceding just six.

Burnley looked impressive when holding Manchester United to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford back in January, but were woeful on their recent trip to St James` Park. It is hard to see them getting anything from a game in which Liverpool will be throwing everything at them to keep their title hopes alive.

Klopp`s men brushed past Bournemouth and Watford in their last two home games and should hand out the same treatment to their visitors on Sunday.

You can back Liverpool/Over 2.5 Goals at 4/7.
