Liverpool vs Chelsea - Premier League Preview and Odds

April 14, 2019 16:30pm - Selhurst Park (London)

Premier League

Liverpool can retain their place at the top of the Premier League table, regardless on Manchester City`s result, with a win over old foes Chelsea on Sunday.

The Reds are playing a game ahead of Manchester City so the advantage they hold will mean nothing unless their rivals drop points at some point. The only thing Klopp`s men can do is keep winning all their games and hope that other results go their way.

With a trip to Portugal ahead of them this week, the Merseyside club will be thankful to be playing at home. They will kick-off full of confidence following their 2-0 win over Porto in midweek which puts them within touching distance of another Champions League semi-final.

Klopp`s men are unbeaten in 15 matches in all competitions and in their last 35 home matches in the Premier League. Eight of their last nine league games at Anfield have produced Over 2.5 Goals and six of them produced Over 3.5 Goals.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will continue their fight for a place in the top four. Maurizio Sarri`s men have lost four of their last six Premier League away games, the exceptions being wins against relegated Fulham and 18th-ranked Cardiff City. They failed to find the net in defeats to Arsenal, AFC Bournemouth, Manchester City and Everton.

Defeat could put the Blues in danger of finishing outside of the top four with Manchester United and Arsenal both ready to pounce. However, they have yet to earn a point away from home against any of the top six this season.

With so much to play for, this could be a really edgy game but Liverpool have shown they are capable of taking the pressure in their stride this season, winning their last four games in a row when a single dropped point could have ended their title hopes.

Betting odds and tips

Chelsea have a good record at Anfield but this is the strongest Liverpool team they have faced in years and their away form against the top six is a cause for concern. Expect Liverpool to snatch all three points to keep the title race alive. The Home Win with Over 2.5 Goals looks decent value at 7/4.

You can back the Home Win with Over 2.5 Goals at 7/4.
