JCB Triumph Hurdle Preview

March 18, 2016 13:30pm - Cheltenham

Cheltenham Festival

Aidan O`Brien-trained Ivanovich Gorbatov was running really well until his last outing at Leopardstown, when a couple of mistakes left him trailing in fourth place. As a result of that performance, some punters may be looking elsewhere. However, prior to his off-day he was showing great form and should not be discounted.

Another contender is the Paul Nicholls-trained Zubayr who came through from first to last to bag his first win at Kempton earlier this year. His stamina and staying power have drawn comparisons with stablemate and former Triumph Hurdle winner Zarkandar, and that is high praise indeed.

Sceau Royal is also progressing well and should not be discounted. Neither should the Willie Mullins-trained Footpad who stands a great chance despite not being heavily backed in the market. He will enjoy the ground and likes to run at pace, making him a good choice at a double-figure price.

Betting odds and tips

This will be a competitive race but the conditions could just favour the Mullins gelding. And he is very well priced.

You can back Footpad at 10/1 with Bet365.
