Valencia look certain to be heading for the Round of 16 after scoring six goals without reply against Rapid Vienna in the first leg of this Europa League clash.
Rapid impressive in group stage
Rapid Vienna`s first foray into the latter stages of a European competition in nearly 20 years, looks to have come to an abrupt end, after they were humbled 6-0 in the first leg of their Round of 32 clash with Valencia.
The Austrians had the second-highest point`s tally of all the group stage winners, and prior to the first leg, they were many peoples tip as tournament dark horses.
With such a massive deficit to chase, it now seems that the team from Vienna have little left to play for but pride.
Things are looking up for Valencia
After bagging his first La Liga win as Valencia boss at home to Espanyol, Gary Neville has now secured his first European victory in charge of the Spanish club. He made it three wins out of three on Sunday when he guided his team to a 2-1 away win at Granada in La Liga.
With such a commanding lead going into the second leg, Valencia can be expected to cruise into the last 16. However, it remains to be seen whether the Englishman will field a full strength team for this clash.
Team news
Dibon, Novota and Schaub are still missing for the home side, while Kainz and Hoffmann are both doubtful.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be without the injured Aymen Abdennour.
