Capital One Cup preview and odds: Hull vs. Leicester

October 27, 2015 19:45pm - KC Stadium

League Cup

Hull City will be looking to take their second Premier League scalp in this competition when they welcome Leicester City to the KC Stadium in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.

Hull enjoying home run

In the last round, Steve Bruce’s men squeezed past Swansea by a goal to nil and will now play their third straight home game in the competition. They last reached this stage back in 2013 when they were knocked out on penalties by Tottenham Hotspur.

The Tigers are currently enjoying a six game unbeaten run in the league that has left them in sixth place in the Championship table. While they will be enjoying their cup run, their priority will be securing an immediate return to the Premier League after last season’s heart-breaking relegation.

Short trip north for the Foxes

Leicester continue to defy expectations with their performances in the Premier League and are now in with a chance of making the quarter-finals of a competition that they have won on three previous occasions. They first lifted this trophy in 1964 and added two more crowns in 1997 and 2000. The Foxes reached the last eight in 2013 before being dumped out by Manchester City.

Claudio Ranieri’s team started this year’s campaign with a 1-4 away win at Bury before defeating fellow Premier League side West Ham United by two goals to one (after extra-time) in the last round. They now face a short trip north to take on recently-relegated Hull City on Humberside.

Team news

Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa may feature after returning from a knock otherwise Matthew James is the only player still on the Foxes crocked list.

Hull City will be without defender Curtis Davies who faces a month on the side-lines after tearing a calf muscle in last week’s league win against Ipswich Town.

Hull are in good form but Leicester have been a revelation this season and might just fancy their chances at snatching the League Cup. The away win is available at 11/8 with Ladbrokes.

Alternatively, if you fancy Hull to at least take it to extra-time the draw can be backed at 5/2 with Marathon Bet.
