Premier League preview and odds: Stoke City vs Swansea City

April 02, 2016 15:00pm - Britannia Stadium

Premier League

Stoke City will continue their late push for a European qualification spot when they welcome a Swansea City side still staving off the threat of relegation.

One defeat in six for Stoke

A run of six games featuring four wins, one draw and a defeat, has lifted Stoke City to eighth place in the Premier League table just five points adrift of the top four. While they are still the outsiders to bag a European qualification spot, Mark Hughes` men are far from being out of the equation.

In their last league encounter, they edged to a 2-1 victory away to Premier League newcomers Watford. Prior to that, they fell by the same score-line at home to Southampton. A win at the weekend would keep the pressure on the three teams (Southampton, Manchester United and West Ham) directly above them in the table.

Swansea City nearly out of danger

A run of three wins in their last four games has moved Swansea City to within touching distance of dry land in the Premier League swim for survival. The Swans` record under new boss Francisco Guidolin now reads W4 D2 L3 - they had won just two of their previous 13 before his arrival.

The Welsh side come in to this game on the back of a 1-0 win at home to bottom club Aston Villa. In their previous match, they fell to a 3-2 defeat away to AFC Bournemouth. They have scored at least one goal in their last six away games.

Team news

The Potters will have to make do without Jon Walters and Marc Wilson, while Erik Pieters is a doubt.

Meanwhile, the visitors have nearly a full strength side to choose from with only Neil Taylor absent.
