Premier League preview and odds: Stoke City vs Aston Villa

February 27, 2016 15:00pm - Britannia Stadium

Premier League

Stoke City still have an outside chance of grabbing a European place, while Aston Villa need a win to keep their Premier League survival hopes alive. But whose motivation will be strongest when the teams meet at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday?

Stoke winless in two at home

Stoke City have won just one of their last five Premier League matches and are winless in two on home soil. In those two home matches, they failed to score and picked up just a single point after drawing 0-0 against Arsenal and losing 0-3 to Everton.

In their last league fixture, the Potters ran out 3-1 winners at Bournemouth to record their first win in four matches. Only three teams in the Premier League have scored less goals than Mark Hughes` men. No away win in 12 for Villa

Aston Villa are so far adrift from safety at the bottom of the league table, that most people have already written them off as certainties for the drop. With an eight point margin and an inferior goal difference to overcome, things certainly do not look for Remi Garde`s men - however, a win at Stoke could give his team another straw to clutch at.

The Villains are coming into this game on the back of a 0-6 humiliation at the hands of Jurgen Klopp`s Liverpool. Prior to that match, they had lost just one of their previous five games and seemed to be finding some form. Their only previous away win came at Bournemouth on the opening day of the season.

Team news

The home side will be without Geoff Cameron, Charlie Adam and Glen Jonhson, while Phil Bardsley, Marc Muniesa and Ryan Shawcross.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Libor Kozak, Adama Traore and Jordan Amavi, while Gabriel Agbonlahor, Jack Grealish and Carlos Sanchez are all on the doubtful list.

Aston Villa: LWLDD
