Everton vs Chelsea - Premier League preview and odds

April 30, 2017 14:05pm - Goodison Park

Premier League

Everton could have a big say in the title race will pursuing their own dream of a European place when they host league leaders Chelsea at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

Home side`s pursuit of Europe could throw title race wide open

Chelsea travel to Goodison Park on Sunday knowing that anything other than a win could put their title ambitions in serious jeopardy. While Tottenham Hotspur continue to grind out victories, the Blues can barely afford to slip up with just four points separating the two sides at the top of the Premier League table.

Antonio Conte has intimated that a Premier League title in his first season in charge would be his greatest achievement as a coach, perhaps trying to highlight the enormity of the task at hand. He may also be trying to dilute the expectations that have built since his side rose to the top of the table many months ago.

Standing in Chelsea`s way of all three points will be an Everton team that harbour feint hopes of European qualification. Ronald Koeman`s men are six points behind fifth-ranked Manchester United who have played a game less, while sixth-ranked Arsenal are just two points ahead having played two games less.

European qualification may be a long shot, the Toffees will at least want to give it a good shot by finishing the season on a high.

Team news

Aaron Lennon (muscular), Ramiro Funes Mori (knee), Seamus Coleman (double leg fracture), James McCarthy (hamstring strain), Yannick Bolasie (knee) and Muhamed Besic (knee ligament) are all expected to be missing for the home side.

Betting odds and tips

Everton have scored at least one goal in all but one of their home matches and they have won their last eight matches in a row at Goodison Park.

Chelsea have won 65% of their away matches and have scored at least on goal in each of their last 11 matches overall.

Recent games between these two sides have produced plenty of goals with a least four netted in four of their last five clashes. As a result, punters should look at the total goals market in this game with Over 2.5 and Over 3.5 both offering tempting value.

You can back Over 2.5 Goals at 7/10 and Over 3.5 Goals at 7/4 - both with Bet365.
