Premier League preview and odds: Arsenal vs Southampton

February 2, 2016 19:45pm - Emirates Stadium

Premier League

Arsenal will be looking for revenge after falling 4-0 to Southampton when the teams last met in the Barclays Premier League at St. Mary`s back in December.

Gunners down to third

After a run of three winless games, Arsenal have fallen down to third in the Premier League table, just two points ahead of arch-rivals Tottenham and three points behind leaders Leicester City.

They come into this game on the back of a disappointing 0-1 home defeat to lowly Chelsea. Prior to that, they played out consecutive draws against Stoke (0-0) and Liverpool (3-3).

The Chelsea match marked the first time in eight home games that Arsene Wenger`s men have failed to score a goal. It was also their first home defeat since the opening day reverse against West Ham (0-2).

Saints marching again

After a dismal run of form during which they won just one game in eight, Southampton seem to have rediscovered their early season form. The Saints have now won three games on the trot without conceding a goal and have risen back up to eight place in the Premier League table.

Last time out, Ronald Koeman`s men bagged all three point from a trip to Old Trafford (0-1) and will now be looking to perform a similar raid on the Emirates. A win could put them back in the race for the European qualification places.

Team news

The home side will have to make do without Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck.

Meanwhile, the visitors will continue without Steven Davis, Jay Rodriguez and Florin Grados, while Graziano Pelle remains a slight doubt.

Betting odds and tips

Arsenal`s run of home dominance was brought to an abrupt end against Chelsea last week. However, they have conceded just five goals at home all season, having kept five clean sheets in their last ten matches.

Prior to their win at Old Trafford, the Saints lost four away trips in a row, but they seem to have recovered from their recent dip in form and will provide a tough test for the Londoners.

You can back the Gunners to bounce back with a narrow win at 5/6 with Bet365.
