Premier League preview and odds: Watford vs Norwich City

December 5, 2015 15:00pm - Vicarage Road

Premier League

This Saturday, two of the Premier League’s recently-promoted teams will battle it out for supremacy when surprise package Watford play host to lowly Norwich in the Barclays Premier League.

Watford continue to impress

Watford halted their recent two game slide by winning 3-2 away at stricken Aston Villa in the last game week. Prior to that they hand fallen to top-four opponents Manchester United and Leicester City in consecutive weeks.

As the season has progressed, Watford’s style of play has developed and they now look like a team with real identity. Spanish boss Quique Sanchez Flores’s has adapted well to the league and his team continues to flirt with the top half of the table.

Despite being relegation favourites at the start of the season, the Hornets remain nine points clear of the drop zone and just six point shy of the relegation positions.

Norwich fighting hard for survival

Norwich City have not fared quite as well as their fellow promotees, but they have managed to keep their heads out of the relegation swamp with 14 games gone. Last weekend, they secured an impressive draw against Arsenal but dropped to 16th place in the table. Defeat to Watford could see them slip even closer to the danger zone.

Team news

Watford are hoping that goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes will have recovered from a neck injury in time for this clash, while Valon Behrami remains the only other doubt.

Meanwhile, Norwich should have Alexander Tettey available but Matt Jarvis is set to miss out.

Betting odds and tips

Watford have been fairly erratic at home but have managed to keep four clean sheets this term. Norwich have been poor on the road recently, having lost three on the trot, and could struggle against the front pairing of Ighalo and Deeney. Watford can be backed to Win to Nil at 11/4 with Skybet.

Troy Deeney has netted four goals in the last five games and is well priced at 15/8 to score anytime with Bet365.
