Two of the league`s struggling teams will go head-to-head on Monday night when relegation-zone dwellers Sporting Gijon welcome 15th-ranked Getafe to Asturias in La Liga.

Sporting Gijon are currently occupying one of the three relegation places in La Liga but they have played two games less than their rivals. On Monday night, they can climb out of the drop zone by beating a Getafe side who are just two points above them in the table.

The Asturian team have lost five of their last six games, although four of those six were played away from home. In their last match at El Molinón, Abelardo’s men beat fellow relegation candidates Las Palmas by three goals to one. In total they have lost just one of their last three home games having won two and drawn the other.

Getafe defeated once in last six games

Madrid-based team Getafe have lost just one of their last six league matches having lost one and drawn the other four. They are currently on a run of three straight draws including a goalless encounter with Deportivo last time out.

Away from home, they have yet to win a game all season having lost six and drawn the other two. However, they did hold Valencia to an impressive 2-2 draw at the Mestalla on their last away trip.

Team news

Sporting could be without Pablo Perez, Daniel N`Di and Sergio Alvarez.

Meanwhile, Getafe are without the suspended Angel Lafita and the injured trio of Alexis, Emiliano Buendia and Alvaro Medran.
