Premier League preview and odds: Manchester City vs West Bromwich Albion

April 09, 2016 17:30pm - Etihad Stadium

Premier League

Manchester City will seek to cement their place in the top four on Saturday evening with a win against a West Brom side that has little left to play for in the league.

City in top four quest

With the Premier League title almost certainly out of reach, Manchester City will want to ensure that incoming boss Pep Guardiola at least has Champions League football to look forward to next season.

The Sky Blues are just one point clear of their city rivals Manchester United, with West Ham United just two points further back. With seven games left to play, their place in the top four is by no means certain.

After a two-game winless run, City got back to winning ways last week with a 4-0 win away to AFC Bournemouth.

Strong start to 2016 for West Brom

A recent run of 13 games featuring five wins, five draws and just three defeats has lifted West Brom into 11th place in the table, with a total of 40 points. The Baggies have spent much of the season in the mid to lower reaches of the table and have never really looked in trouble.

Despite having little left to play for, Tony Pulis` men have continued to put in competitive performances, especially at home, where they recently went on a six-game unbeaten run before losing by a single goal to Norwich last time out. Away from home they have been less successful, winning just one of their last 10.

Team news

The home side are still without Raheem Sterling and Vincent Kompany, while there are also doubts surrounding the fitness of Yaya Toure and Fabian Delph.

Meanwhile, the visitors will have to manage without Chris Brunt, while Callum McManaman`s inclusion is pending a fitness test.

Betting odds and tips

Manchester City have lost three of their last four at home, while West Brom have drawn at Leicester and Sunderland and beaten Everton in their last three away games.
