Sporting Gijon will continue their quest for La Liga survival against a Celta de Vigo side who have their sights set on a European qualification place.

Sporting Gijon are set for a nervy few weeks as they attempt to haul themselves clear of the drop zone. The Asturian side are currently sat in 18th place in the table just one point adrift of safety.

A recent home win against second-ranked Atletico Madrid and a draw away to Levante has lifted them above Getafe, and they now have 17th-ranked Granada in their sights. On home soil, they have won just one of their last six, having drawn two and lost the other three.

One defeat in seven for Celta de Vigo

Celta de Vigo seem to have recovered from the horrendous dip in form that they suffered at the start of 2016. After losing six out of eight league games, the Galicians have bounced back with a run of seven games featuring just one defeat (Real Madrid).

In their last away match, they bagged all three point with a 2-0 win over Valencia. They followed up that victory with a 1-1 draw on home soil in the Galician derby.

Team news

The home side will be without the injured group of Alex Barrera, Canella, Alex Menendez and Bernardo Espinosa.

Meanwhile, the visitors will have Marcelo Diaz and Andreu Fontas on the side-lines.
