Manchester City vs Manchester United - Premier League Preview and Odds

April 7, 2018 17:30 – Etihad Stadium

Premier League

Manchester City will be relishing the chance to secure the Premier League trophy by beating their arch rivals on Saturday evening. Likewise, the visitors will gain some satisfaction from putting their neighbours` party plans on temporary hold.

In reality, the sky blue ribbons have already been attached to the trophy but this game could mathematically confirm Pep Guardiola`s first Premier League title. However, they will need to pick themselves up after Wednesday`s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

It was a poor display from City who now have a massive hill to climb to make it to the last four of UEFA`s elite competition. As a result, they may actually rest a few players for this league game despite the significance of their opponents.

Raheem Sterling only featured in the second half on Wednesday and should start on Saturday, while John Stones and Bernardo Silva could also return.

Meanwhile, with Liverpool breathing down their necks, the visitors will want to maintain their grip on second place in the league table while also raining on City`s parade. They currently sit 16 points behind their opponents so a win here would simply cement their top four status rather than keeping any title hopes alive.

Away from home against the top six, they have lost to Spurs and Chelsea, drawn against Liverpool and beaten Arsenal. So they will not be that confident of getting a result here, especially considering they were also beaten at home by the Citizens.

Betting odds and tips

City have lost just one Premier League match this season (also to Liverpool) and have won their last 14 home matches beating Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, and Chelsea in the process. United have scored just one goal away from home against the top six this season. Therefore, the home win to nil, looks like a good bet.

You can back Manchester City to Win to Nil at 2/1.
