Since opening their campaign with a narrow win in Andorra, Latvia have slumped to four straight defeats including a 2-0 reverse at home to the Faroes Islands. As a result, their faint dreams of World Cup qualification were quickly extinguished and their priorities returned to not finishing last in Group B.

The single goal in Andorra was one of two that they have scored in the campaign, the other coming against this Friday`s opponents. Perhaps their best performance of the campaign came in the last match when they restricted Switzerland to a 1-0 scoreline away from home.

Meanwhile, Portugal will look to complete the double over the team that they beat 4-1 on home soil back in November. The European champions began their campaign with a shock 2-0 defeat to Switzerland but have since won all of their games and look certain to finish in the top two of Group B. However, they would prefer to finish in top spot to guarantee their place in Russia next summer.

The Portuguese remain the top scorers in the group with a tally of 19 goals while conceding just three. Nine of those goals were scored by Cristiano Ronaldo.
