FA Cup preview and odds: Peterborough United vs West Bromwich Albion

February 09, 2015 20:00pm - ABAX Stadium

FA Cup Fourth Round Replay

After securing a 2-2 draw in the first FA Cup Fourth Round match at the Hawthorns, Peterborough now get the chance to take on Premier League side West Brom in the more intimate surroundings of their London Road Stadium.

Posh with strong cup form

Peterborough have scored at least two goals in every round of the FA Cup this season, and have kept three clean sheets in the four games that they have played so far. They have conceded just two goals so far in the competition, both of which were scored by West Brom in the first game back in January.

They followed up their good result in the first match with a 1-0 win away in League One against Chesterfield. That result lifted the Posh up to eighth in the table, just three points short of the play-off positions.

Second replay for Baggies

West Brom will play their second replay of the competition this term when they make the trip east to face Peterborough. In the previous round, the Baggies were also held 2-2 at home by Bristol City but prevailed by a single goal in the replay.

While they will be keen to progress in this competiion, Tony Pulis` men will not want to get too distracted from their league campaign. The Midland side have struggled in recent weeks and are currently sat in 14th place just 6 points above the drop zone. Last time out, they were beaten 1-0 away to Newcastle - a result which stretched their winless run to five games.

Team news

Defenders Michael Smith and Ricardo Santos are both suspended for the hosts, while Jack Baldwin is also set to miss out.

The visitors defence could be weakened by the absence of Gareth McAuley and Craig Dawson who both picked up knocks againts Newcastle. Jonas Olsson is also suffering from a hamstring problem, while Jonny Evans and Chris Brunt are also expected to miss out.

Recent form (League)

Peterborough: WLLDW

West Bromwich Albion: LDDLD

Both teams have defensive issues ahead of this game and much may depend on what teams the respective managers decide to field.

Peterborough will be going into this game full of confidence following a strong display in the first leg, while West Brom have been poor recently and are now looking over their shoulders in the Premier League.
